In 2007, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sport Management & Communication from the University of Michigan. Later, in 2015, I earned an Associate of Science degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from Kapiolani Community College in Honolulu, Hawaii.
As a military spouse, I've worked as an occupational therapy assistant for 8 years. Recently, my interest in medical billing has grown. After welcoming my third child, I decided to pursue a home-based career in medical billing to be with our children while my husband embarks on his career as an airline pilot.
My goal is to enhance my expertise in medical billing and coding and obtain a CPC certification.
On a lighter note, some fun facts about me include living in 5 states over the last 9 years and winning a state championship in Girls Ice Hockey during my time at Grosse Pointe South High School.
In 1998, I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, and spent the next 5 years teaching elementary school-anything from music, to 2nd, 3rd grade, even teaching 1st/2nd grade combined. In 1998, I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, and spent the next 5 years teaching elementary school-anything from music, to 2nd, 3rd grade, even teaching 1st/2nd grade combined. I realized after those years that it was really not for me, and took a job as an Administrative Assistant at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, where I spent the next 16 years. Most of my 30 years of working have been spent in the medical field working as an Administrative Assistant in some capacity.
In 2020, I left the medical field for a short time, where I worked for JESSE as an Early Childhood Assistant. In December of 2024, I completed the AAPC Medical Billing and Coding course and I anticipate taking the certification test this May.
I believe my heart and soul really belong in the medical field and I enjoy all aspects of it. I am excited for this opportunity to learn more in the field of Behavioral Health and every day feels like a new challenge to me.
